Manufacturing ERP
A factory-focused Enterprise Resource Planning system designed to connect inventory, production, quality, maintenance and manufacturing operations within one integrated platform.
Project Overview
Software designed around real manufacturing workflows.
Manufacturing environments require more than basic inventory and accounting systems. Production teams need visibility into materials, machines, work orders, production output, quality and maintenance.
This project explores the design and development of a manufacturing-focused ERP platform that brings these operational areas together through a structured database and desktop application architecture.
The system is currently under development as part of my exploration of enterprise software architecture, manufacturing information systems and the integration of engineering knowledge with software development.
Project Status
Under Development
The architecture, database structure and manufacturing workflows are being developed incrementally.
Architecture
Desktop ERP + SQL Database
Manufacturing Modules
Designed around the factory floor.
The planned ERP structure covers the major information flows required to manage a manufacturing operation.
Raw Materials & Inventory
Managing raw materials, stock quantities, inventory movements, warehouses and material availability for production.
Bill of Materials
Defining the materials and quantities required to manufacture specific finished products.
Production Orders
Planning and tracking manufacturing orders from material requirements through production completion.
Machines & Work Centers
Organizing production machines and work centers used throughout manufacturing processes.
Quality Control
Supporting quality inspection processes, production checks and recording of manufacturing quality information.
Maintenance
Providing a foundation for tracking machines, maintenance activities, service history and equipment availability.
Work in Progress
Tracking production that is currently in process before materials become completed finished goods.
Finished Goods
Recording completed production and transferring finished products into the appropriate inventory locations.
ERP Reporting
Providing structured operational information to support production, inventory and management decisions.
Manufacturing Workflow
Connecting materials to production output.
01
Materials
Raw materials are received and recorded in inventory.
02
Planning
Production requirements are translated into production orders and material requirements.
03
Production
Materials move through production and work centers.
04
Quality
Production output can be inspected and recorded.
05
Finished Goods
Completed products are recorded as finished inventory.
Engineering + Software
Applying engineering thinking to enterprise software.
The project combines software development with an understanding of manufacturing operations, industrial equipment and engineering workflows.
This approach is intended to make the system reflect how a factory actually operates rather than treating manufacturing as a generic business process.
Engineering
Manufacturing processes, equipment, production workflows and maintenance concepts.
Software
Application architecture, database design and desktop application development.
Data
Structured relational data for inventory, production, machines and operational records.
Automation
A foundation for future integration with industrial equipment and automation systems.
Technology
Technology stack.
